Merle David Peachey, 86, of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 8
2010 at his residence.He was the
widower of the late Mary Z. Schreck who passed in 2008 and also his first wife,
Helen L. Peachey, who passed in 1991.
Born in Belleville, PA on October 6, 1923, Merle was a son of the late
Urie and Nancy (Yoder) Peachey.He
served in the U.S. Army during World War II and in the U.S. Navy during the
Korean War.
In Ephrata, Merle worshipped at the Washington Avenue Bible Church.From 1960 until 1989, he owned and operated
Fairview Avenue Rentals in Lancaster, PA.He was most recently employed at the Manheim Auto Auction.
Merle is survived by his step-son, John Schreck, husband of Donna
(Youndt) Schreck of Ephrata; step-daughter, Mary White of Ephrata; sisters:
Clara, wife of Donald Hackman, Tressie Martin and Mary Snader, all of Ephrata;
brother, Chester Peachey, of Reamstown, PA; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by his
step-daughter, Faye Houck; sisters, Minnie Burkholder and Leona Horst; and
brothers, Warren and Kenneth Peachey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at
Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Inc., 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, PA 17522
with the Rev. Tom R. Koch officiating.Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service.Interment with Military Honors accorded by
the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata, PA.
