Gerald P. Grill

An avid sports fan and lifelong resident of Ephrata, Pa., Gerald was born July 7, 1931 and died unexpectedly on June 10 at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.  He was the son of James and Laura Grill.

 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Benedick.

 

Also survived by four children, Steven Grill and wife Kendra (Mishoe) of Charlotte, NC; Lynne (Grill) wife of Roger Kline of Ephrata; Joe Grill and wife Ann (Leed) of Ephrata; and Pat Grill and wife Barbara (Fajt) of Mechanicsburg; and nine grandchildren.

 

Also survived by two sisters, Barbara (Grill), wife of Richard Will; and Nanette (Grill), wife of James Tshudy; both of Ephrata.

 

A U.S. Navy veteran, he graduated from Ephrata High School in 1949 and earned a degree from Temple University.  He was employed by RCA, retiring from Burle Industries.

 

He served on boards including Ephrata Borough Council, Ephrata Public Library and Cocalico Place.

 

He was a lifelong member of Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata, serving as Elder, Deacon, Trustee and on various committees.

 

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Bethany United Church of Christ, 140 E. Main St., Ephrata, PA 17522.

 

In lieu of flowers: Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany UCC Deacon Fund (for the needy) at the above address, or to the Ephrata Public Library 550 South Reading Road Ephrata, PA 17522.
