Suzanne E. Sload

Suzanne Elizabeth (Gerhard) Sload, 70, of Lititz, PA, passed away on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse in Philadelphia after a short illness.  Mrs. Sload was the widow of the late Mick Sload who passed in 2001 and a daughter of the late Edwin and Adeline (Hornberger) Gerhard.

Susie graduated from Shippensburg University in 1962 with a BS in Education.  She retired as a Business Education & Information Systems teacher from Warwick High School.  After retiring, she enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts of America at Camp Mack and in Lancaster, PA.

Susie's enjoyment of life included her volunteer work at the Lititz Moravian Church and its commitment to missionary work.  She also enjoyed volunteering for the Lititz Historical Foundation.

She enjoyed antiques, traveling abroad, and most especially her grandchildren: John, Zachery, Gage, Adam, Skylar and Gavin.

In addition to her grandchildren, Susie is survived by a daughter, Rebecca S., wife of Marc A. McCarron of Downingtown, PA; two sons: Peter M. Sload, husband of Terri  (Keasey) of Leesburg, VA and John M. Sload, husband of Stephanie (Brzozowski) of Manhattan Beach, CA; a sister, Phyllis McClure of Richmond, VA and two brothers: John Gerhard, husband of Sandra (Getz) of Akron, PA and Kenneth Gerhard of Lititz, PA.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Lititz Moravian Church, 8 Church Square, Lititz, PA with the Rev. Dean Jurgen officiating.  Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
