Larry L. Krimes

Larry L. Krimes

Larry L. Krimes, 73, of Denver, PA, left this world for a new journey on April 28, 2019.

Born January 6, 1946 in Lebanon County, Larry was a son of Naomi "Peg" (Saul) Krimes and the late Martin Luther Krimes.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1965-1967 and was the owner/operator of Krimes Machine Shop in Ephrata for many years.

Larry married the love of his life, Beverly Ann Simmons, on January 29, 1966.  Their first date was at a dirt track race and led to their lifelong passion for racing

Larry raced a late model in the early 70's and later raced a 410 sprint car.  When his son Alan was old enough, they began racing micro sprints at Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway together.  They then moved up to the 358 and 410 sprint car division with Larry as the mechanic.

Larry was most proud of the many racing accomplishments they achieved together, including many race wins and 2 track championships at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA.

The fatigue from chemo didn't keep Larry from attending the races. He was always smiling and willing to lend a helping hand. He will always be his children's hero and his wife's prince.

In addition to his wife and mother, Larry is survived by two children: Cindy M. Krimes of Lancaster, PA and Alan D. Krimes of Dover, PA; one grandson: Jesse L. Krimes of Philadelphia, PA; one great-grandson: Killian L. McGaw of Conestoga, PA; two brothers: Harold E. Krimes, Sr. (Carol) and Ronald G. Krimes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Larry was preceded in death by one brother, Donald L. Krimes.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday May 19th from 1pm-3pm at Reamstown Fire Company

In lieu of flowers, please be kind to one another and make the world a better place.
